Polished by KPT Photoelectric Collection: Swatches and Review

Hey all! For today, I have an upcoming collection from Polished by KPT to share. These five polishes are part of the Photoelectric Collection which will be released this Saturday, April 16th at 12 pm PST in Polished by KPT's shop. 

The colors in this set are so flat out gorgeous! They are all jelly based polishes so expect to apply 2-3 coats and if you have a ridge builder polish, I recommend using that as your base. With those glitter and flakes I was expecting a bit more texture to the finish but I didn't see that, for each polish I applied one layer of topcoat, though I could see you needing another applied the next day once the polish settled. I don't have specific info on pricing but I imagine they will be comparative to other holographic polishes from the brand, which are between $10 to $12 each.

Magenta jelly with silver holographic micro-glitter, holographic micro-flakes, and gold shimmer

I think this pink number is my favorite of the set. It's a bolder shade of pink, which you know I love. When you apply, and this goes for all the polishes in the collection, you will want to wait a few minutes between coats to prevent any dragging of the jelly formula.

Light blue jelly with silver and dark blue holographic micro-glitter plus holographic micro-flakes

An icy blue to cool you down. Okay, that came out weird and suggestive soooo I will go with LOOK AT THE PRETTY BLUE. Three thin coats for opacity.

Three coats

Light purple jelly with silver and gold holographic micro-glitter plus holographic micro-flakes

Such a lovely shade of purple, especially with the gold in there. Application is same as the previous two, three thin coats for coverage.

Two coats

Grass green jelly with silver and gold holographic micro-glitter plus holographic micro-flakes

There is just enough yellow in the green to give this a very fresh spring grass look. This one was actually the most opaque of the collection, I applied just two coats and had a good amount of coverage.

Four coats

Pink rose-gold jelly with silver and gold holographic micro-glitter plus holographic micro-flakes

Pink and gold is such a classic combination and I like the effect of it here. This was probably the most sheer of the collection though, I applied a three coats and still had some visible nail line, so then applied a fourth thin coat.

Since these are jelly polishes, I thought that a stained glass nail art look would be something to try out. I used all the colors from the collection and added a black stamped design on top to tie everything together.

The Holo Hookup January 2016 Collaboration Box: Swatches and Review

Pale blush pink linear holographic

A very sweet shade of pink with a seriously bold linear holo flame. Great formula consistency and full coverage in two coats.

Different Dimension A Little Bit Of Bubbly

Two coats

Light gold linear holographic with gold shimmer and flakes

Another awesome metallic shade from Different Dimension, which I was excited to see. This has whole lot of flakes, shimmer, and holo pigment so the formula was on the thick side. With that in mind, you will likely want to wait a few minutes between coats, I needed just two for complete coverage. You may also want to double up your topcoat for a smooth finish.

Glisten & Glow Walks In Nature

Two coats 

Deep green linear holographic with blue undertones plus purple, blue, and gold flakes

A deep and earthy green. I like the added complexity those different flakes bring. Formula is good, I applied two coats but depending on how thin you apply, you may need a third for full opacity.

Polished by KPT Date Night 

Two coats

Black linear holographic with  blue/violet/olive/gold/purple color-shifting micro-shimmer

A beautiful dark and dramatic polish. Though it has a black base, with the shimmer that is has, their is a strong purple overtone to the color. Easy application, with two coats and a medium holo density.

Polished by KPT Winter 2015 Cosmic XOdus II Collection: Swatches and Review

Hello! I have a new brand to the blog today. These eight polishes are part of Polished by KPT Winter 2015 Cosmic XOdus II Collection. Part One of this collection series was released last December, I remember lusting over Lacquerstyle's blog review of that collection so I was excited to learn that there would be a new set for 2015. 

This was a stunning collection to review. I love how rich all the polishes looked and how smoothly they applied. I also received a couple of cuticle oil pens from Polished by KPT, if you are looking for a new one to try out, I can definitely recommend them, you can find a selection of the scents that are carried in her shop here. A few of these are thermal polishes and as I take most of my photos outside, with the recent colder weather, I could not take a warm state photo despite my best efforts. Deep burgundy creme with gold to violet color-shifting shimmer
Black cherry is what came to my mind with this color. It's very opaque needing two coats for coverage.

Purple to blue to violet multi-chrome shimmer

Very much a "glows-from-within" polish which, yes I know that is a much used description but when it fits, it fits. Not a striking change in color-shift but has a more subtle color shift flash.

Dark magenta creme with blue to violet color-shifting shimmer

Damn. This is one stunner of a polish. I usually name a favorite and I think this was my favorite of the set. Easy application as well.

Caramel brown creme/jelly with olive/gold/violet color-shifting shimmer

I wasn't 100% sold on this one in the bottle but on the nail the brown coloring is quite pretty, especially with that complimentary shimmer. Nice formula consistency, I felt like this had a bit more of a crelly feel to it and two coats was all I needed for coverage.

Three coats

Teal green duo-chrome that shifts of violet and blue

Cold state is this darker teal green, in warm state it will be a much lighter, translucent green. 

That shift is subtle but so visually interesting. I like the earthy green coloring that matches it's name. When applying, you will likely see the warm state on your nail (and I am generally a warm natured person), so I applying three coats for coverage.

Purple to blue to violet multi-chrome thermal

This is actually a thermal version of Electromagnetic though it's a tad lighter in color. In cold state you will have this darker blue shimmer and in cold state, you will see a translucent blue color. Same formula as Gaia, so this is shown with three coats.

Bright orange duo-chrome with shifts of gold to pink

So fiery and bold and my favorite of the three thermal polishes. This is darker orange is the cold state, in warmer temperatures, it will be a translucent peachy orange.

Glitter topper consisting of blue micro-flakes, silver holographic micro-glitter plus blue/purple/violet/gold color-shifting shimmer

I want to layer Snow on Saturn over EVERYTHING. I love glitter toppers like this, that are so versatile and which give you an extra oomph of sparkle to whatever you apply it over. The color-shifting shimmer is strong but not over-powering and with one coat, you will get a nice amount of coverage. I have it shown over two other colors from this collection, though you will most definitely want to wear it over black as well.
