Different Dimension Halloween 2015 Anomalous-Phenomenon Collection: Swatches and Review

Provided for Review
Hi everyone! I have more than a few reviews for you all this week, so I thought I would jump-start and do a Sunday post. These six polishes are a part of Different Dimension's upcoming Anomalous-Phenomenon Collection, which is her Halloween 2015 collection. The inspiration comes from the collection namesake, specifically anomalous phenomena, which is defined as that which is not sufficiently explained by science or inferred knowledge. Per Missi, of Different Dimension, this set is dedicated to those who are always on the hunt for the unknown!

I enthusiastically loved this collection. Missi is really good at creating polishes that are flat out gorgeous and then expanding on into a larger color range. Formula wise, each one applied very easily. They do have a thinner style jelly base formula so I ended up applying three coats for each photos below to achieve full coverage. The holographic mico-glitter that is in each bottle is so tiny, so you get a scattered holographic flame and a looser formula. The colors themselves are rich and bold and perfect for this time of the year, though I don't doubt I will be wearing these throughout the year (Static Vision especially for December).

The Halloween 2015 Anomalous-Phenomenon Collection will be released Friday October 2nd at 9 pm EST in Different Dimension's shop.

Each polish is priced at $8.75 each with a discount if you purchase the full collection. Full Spectral is specially priced at $5!

Great Lakes Lacquer October LE's Coral & Stuff and Thangs: Swatches and Review

Provided for Review
Hello again! In addition to The Friends Collection, Part Two that I shared with you earlier today, Great Lakes Lacquer is also releasing new limited edition polishes for the month of October. Mariah is a huge Walking Dead fan and in honor of their new season six premiere on October 11th, the two new limited editions are inspired by two of the characters from the show. I am including notes from Mariah to give you some creative insight about each polish, look for those prior to the polish description in italics.

The October Limited Edition polishes will be released the same as the Friends Part Two Collection on Sunday September 27 at 3 pm EST in Great Lakes Lacquer's shop. These two limited edition polishes will be available throughout the month of October until November 1st.

"I would be remiss if there wasn’t a nod to Andrew Lincoln’s exaggerated southern drawl on Carl’s name, wouldn’t I? Besides, the meme’s that contain this take on Carl’s name should be legendary by now."

Great Lakes Lacquer Coral
Three coats
Purple linear holo filled with pinky coral shimmer
Purple holos are the best, aren't they? I will never tire of them. At least I hope not! The shimmer is subtle, just enough to accent the color. This has a thinner style formula, so I ended up applying three coats.

"This is for you Rick lovers and his stuff. His…thangs. I admit it. I am a Rick lover myself."

Great Lakes Lacquer Stuff & Thangs
Two coats
Blood red jelly with orange-gold crystal chrome flakes and red shimmer
With this blood red coloring, it feels very appropiate being a polish inspired by the Walking Dead. Easy application and quite opaque, I needed just two coats.

Great Lakes Lacquer The Friends Collection, Part Two: Swatches and Review

Provided for Review
Good morning! I have a new collection from Great Lakes Lacquer for you today. The theme of this collection is a continuation of her previous debut collection, in which Mariah (Great Lakes's maker) draws from inspiration from her personal friendships. There is even one inspired by me! I am including notes from Mariah to give you some creative insight about each polish, look for those prior to the polish description in italics.

The Friends Collection, Part Two will be released this Sunday, September 27th at 3 pm EST in Great Lakes Lacquer's shop.

"A woman with a heart of gold and the mind of a 12-year-old boy, this lady is quick with the sass and can make a sailor blush. Still, she is a great friend who is always there with a helping hand, especially for those who can’t speak for themselves. She does amazing things for animals in need, even fostering for those who would be forgotten otherwise. Her huge heart and voracious vocabulary are a huge inspiration to me."

Great Lakes Lacquer The Animal Advocate
Two coats
Burgundy wine linear holographic with gold shimmer and fuchsia ultra-chrome flakes
Hot damn, this is just crazy pretty. The color is a red toned purple and the added flakes and shimmer add some complexity. It has a medium to high density holo flame.

"There is more to this one than there seems, at first. At the surface, there is quiet but underneath the depths are limitless and rolling, almost like a river. You would never know that she has all the amazing talents that she does if you don’t take the time to get to know her. From making nail polish to architecture to the culture she cherishes, the multifaceted side of this lady never ends."

Great Lakes Lacquer The Enigmatic Soul
Two coats
Cobalt blue crelly with amethyst and copper shimmer and tiny emerald micro-glitter
Beautiful, just like the inspiration. It does come across as quite enigmatic, with the bold blue coloring and glitter and shimmer. It's is on the thin side with opacity, I applied two coats for my photos but in hindsight, I think I should have done one more.

"No one is safe from this lady’s swatches. Perfect nails, perfect polishing, and gorgeous nail art hardly covers it. I know I’ve bought many bottles of polish based on her pictures. Good thing she has awesome taste. I hear she is a mean mixologist and will ear bug you bad but I haven’t fallen victim to that yet. You can always trust her to give you the truth while considering your feelings. A true friend with the ability to make you empty your wallet."

Great Lakes Lacquer The Evil Enabler
Two coats
Deep purple jelly with orange holographic flakes, orange micro-glitter, and golden orange metallic glitter
So I mentioned that one of the polishes was inspired by me, and this one is it! I didn't really have an idea as to what Mariah was cooking up, so this was a very unexpected and delightful surprise. OMG. Drool-worthy. Purple and orange is one of my favorite color combinations and I love that this is a dark vampy purple with bits of fiery orange to contrast. It's very opaque, I have it shown with two coats for coverage.

"A more apt name could not be found for this one. When I first met this lady, the first thing she did was send me a bunch of nail polish that I had on my wishlist. I have gotten to know her since and she is as sweet as the goodies she sends. She is also tough as nails. To this day, I know of hundreds of people that she has visited her kindness upon. You, too, may have her to thank for your keen interest in indie nail polish."

Great Lakes Lacquer The Polish Fairy Godmother
Two coats
Terracotta pink with blue shimmer
This one is such is such an interesting color. Depending on your lighting and skin tone, it could come across as more pink on some, more peach on others. I love the very prominent blue sheen that it has. It is thick formula wise, probably the most thick out the collection. So with this in mind, wait a few minutes between coats to prevent dragging or patchiness.

(Direct Sunlight)

"This lady is a world traveler and has the language skills to go with. She is also a huge nature lover. Her idea of a vacation is taking you out camping and making you climb things while she’s at it. I tell you though; the views when you wake up are worth it. Did I tell you she’d give you the shirt off her back as well? One thing is for sure, when I cross Patagonia off my bucket list, she’s for sure coming with me. That way I’ll always have an extra pair of clothes and be able to ask where a bathroom is."

Great Lakes Lacquer The Traveling Linguist
Three coats
Bronze brown jelly with gold shimmer
The color fits the inspiration so well. This lovely and rich brown polish is a nice entry into the fall season and the gold shimmer gives it some warmth. The formula for this one is a little thin in coloring, so three coats is best to for complete coverage.

Lollipop Posse Lacquer Fall 2015 Full As Much Heart Collection: Swatches and Review

Provided for Review
Hi everyone! I have another post for you today, this time a review. These six polishes makes up Lollipop Posse Lacquer's upcoming Full As Much Heart Collection, which is inspired by Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre.

Jane Eyre is such a classic Gothic novel and a long time favorite of mine, so I was so excited to see a collection inspired by that material. The colors themselves are so unique and different from one each other. I will have individual notes of each polish below their description. But before we move on the swatches, let's get into the right mood with some stills from the 2011 film Jane Eyre:

The Full As Much Heart Collection will launch Sunday September 27th at 8 pm CST in Lollipop Posse Lacquer's shop. The holographic shades are $11 and the others are $8.50. You can purchase the full six polish collection at a discounted $57 with free US shipping.

"Because, he said, "I sometimes have a queer feeling with regard to you - especially when you are near me, as now: it is as if I had a string somewhere under my left ribs, tightly and inextricably knotted to a similar string situated in the corresponding quarter of your little frame. And if that boisterous channel, and two hundred miles or so of land some broad between us, I am afraid that cord of communion will be snapt; and then I've a nervous notion I should take to bleeding inwardly. As for you, - you'd forget me.”
-Rochester to Jane, from Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre

Lollipop Posse Lacquer A String Somewhere
Two coats
Rose pink crelly with gold, blue, red, purple shifting shimmer
The especially love the glints of gold that spark in the pink base. It has such a heavy shimmer that it looks metallic. And it's the most opaque out the collection, needing just two coats.

“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.”
-Jane, from Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre

Lollipop Posse Lacquer I Am No Bird
Three coats
Sapphire blue jelly with royal blue holographic hex glitters and purple to blue color-shifting shimmer
The shimmer in this is more apparent in person than in my photos. The tinted jelly is on the sheer side but you can get complete coverage with three coats. A bold blue that glitters, perfect.

“Do you think I am an automaton? — a machine without feelings? and can bear to have my morsel of bread snatched from my lips, and my drop of living water dashed from my cup?"
-Jane to Rochester, from Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre

Lollipop Posse Lacquer My Drop of Living Water
Three coats
Dark teal green with blue over-tones and purple fleck shimmer
Ohhh my, this jeweled color is divine. It's a little thick, so wait between coats when applying. And I have a note from the maker that this could stain if you do not wear a base coat, so make sure to apply your go-to base coat before wearing this.

"Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong! — I have as much soul as you — and full as much heart! And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you." -Jane to Rochester, from Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre

Lollipop Posse Lacquer Small, Obscure, Plain, and Little
Three coats
Light gray scattered holographic with color-shifting violet to blue shimmer
I wasn't expecting to love this as much as I did. Gray can fall flat but this particular polish has that shimmer to liven it up. You will need to build to three coats for complete coverage.

"...and it is madness in all women to let a secret love kindle within them, which, if unreturned and unknown, must devour the life that feeds it; and, if discovered and responded to, must lead, ignis-fatuus-like, into miry wilds whence there is no extrication."
-Jane, from Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre

Lollipop Posse Lacquer Where There Is No Extrication
Two coats
Amethyst-toned linear holographic with blue shimmer
YUM, this is a gorgeous grape purple and has a medium density holo.

(Direct Sunlight)

"You — you strange — you almost unearthly thing! — I love as my own flesh. You — poor and obscure, and small and plain as you are — I entreat to accept me as a husband."
-Rochester to Jane, from Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre

Lollipop Posse Lacquer You Almost Unearthly Thing
Three coats
Micro-flake filled polish that shifts between magenta, red, yellow, and orange shades, with red shimmer and charcoal-colored flakes scattered throughout
This feels familiar but I have nothing else in my collection quite like it. The chrome flakes give it a metallic appearance. You could layer but I like the effect of it built up to three coats. I did find that toward my nail tips, I still had some of my nail visible, so a very light dab with a fourth coat at the tips may help.
