Spring 2017 Seasonal Indie Box: Swatches and Review

Hey guys and gals, for today I have a new collaboration box to share. This is the third Seasonal Indie Box, featuring permanent contributors Anchor & Heart Lacquer, Colores de Carol, and Turtle Tootsie Polishes, with special guest Heather's Hues in this time. 

The Spring Seasonal Indie Box will be available starting April 2nd through April 9th in Turtle Tootsie Polishes' shop. Pricing will be $35 plus shipping which is a great price considering the box includes four full sized polishes. 

Anchor & Heart Lacquer Sunshine & Pansies 

Three coats
Mellow gold toned yellow crelly with green shimmer, gold and silver micro-shreds, and larger glitter in violet, magenta, gold and silver.
My lighting brightens this just a bit, in person it's slightly duskier, definitely more a "mellow yellow". I like the subtle contrast from the various colored shimmer and glitter. It's not quite opaque in two coats, three coats worked out better for me.

Colores de Carol Jade Vine

Two coats

Turquoise linear holographic with gold and holo flakes and fine neon green glitter

Such a refreshing shade of turquoise green! The added flakes and holo will make it sparkle in the sun. Application was easy, I needed just two coats for coverage. 

Heather's Hues Hydrangea

Two coats

Lavender pastel with periwinkle shimmer and purple and indigo micro-flakes

I love purple hydrangeas and seeing them among the spring time blooms always makes me happy. This inspired polish is a lovely interpretation, though it is thicker in formula than I prefer, likely due to its pastel nature. Thinner coats worked best, I applied two here for coverage. A drop or two of nail polish thinner would likely help with that if you prefer thinner style formula. 

Turtle Tootsie Polishes Carnation 

Three coats

Bubble gum pink scattered holo with flashes purple with pink micro-flakes and iridescent rainbow flakes

Soft pinks are made for spring sets, amIright? The flash of purple adds some subtle loveliness, as do the various flakes. No issues with application, though with the first coat, it will look somewhat sheer, three coats though be opaque.

Anchor & Heart Lacquer and Lollipop Posse Lacquer Collaboration Duo: Swatches and Review

Hello! I have lots to share with you this week so let's get right to it! First up is this duo from Anchor & Heart Lacquer and Lollipop Posse Lacquer. As they were tossing ideas around for their collaboration, Karen and Taryn found that they were both fans of the television show, "Vikings" and using that as a starting point as well as drawing inspiration from the significance of the ocean and feminine power in the Nordic culture, this is what they have created together.

Anchor & Heart Lacquer Clamber, With a Heart of Steel

Dark greige crelly with green shimmer, iridescent micro-glitter, plus green/purple/blue ultra-chrome flakes

Maker Inspiration Note:

"I drew inspiration from the legendary tales of Viking bravery, and the ferocity of the Viking woman as portrayed by the tv show, "Vikings". They are shown as tough-as-nails shield maidens, caring, devoted mothers and partners, hard working farmers and fishing folk, with no shortage of ambition and faith! The polish name is borrowed from a war chant used in the series. To me, it speaks to their relentless spirit and bravery."

I love how the iridescence and ultra-chrome flakes peek through the moody gray toned base. That flash of green is oh so tasty. It applies well, not quite opaque with two coats but a thin third coat makes it opaque. 

Lollipop Posse Lacquer More, Give Me More

Two coats

Magenta crelly with blue to green shifting shimmer and two sizes/shades of purple holographic micro-glitter

Maker Inspiration Note:

"I was inspired to create this shade by the theme song of the "Vikings" show, "If I Head a Heart" by Fever Ray. The feminine strength and power displayed throughout the shield maiden Lagertha's voyage over the course of the show is deeply empowering. She is a strong wife and mother, but then (no spoilers!), she becomes MORE."

Oh damn. So very gorgeous. I love how deeply magenta this color is and how the purple gives it a "glowing from within" quality. Slightly more jelly in formula but full opacity for me in two coats. You may need to do a double layer of topcoat due to the micro-glitter.

Anchor & Heart Lacquer Messages In A Bottle Series - January & February 2017: Swatches and Review

Hi everyone! I have two new polishes from Anchor & Heart Lacquer for today. They are the first in a new series for 2017, the Messages In a Bottle line. Each polish month a new polish will be released, promoting empowering messages. Although this is a monthly release line, each polish will be available all year long, not just for the month it will be released. 

First up are polishes for January and February, both of which will be released this Friday, January 27th in Anchor & Heart Lacquer's shop. They will be $11 each.

January 2017

Three coats

Pink toned neutral with orange/lilac/blue color-shifting shimmer, pink holo glitter and violet/pink/gold ultra-chrome flakes

Soft and delicate and so very pretty. I really like the pop of color from the flakes in the pale base. The formula was not quite opaque in two coats, a thin third helped with that.

February 2017

Two coats

Dark pink jelly with linear holo, pink/orange glass flecks, and green/blue/purple ultra-chrome flakes

Yes please! I love how deep the pink color is and the contrast from the flakes again here. The name is a wonderful affirmation as well. This was a bit more opaque than the previous polish, it went on smoothly with two coats for coverage.

Anchor & Heart Lacquer Swatches and Review

Hi guys! I have a new brand on my blog today, in the form of Anchor & Heart Lacquer. I purchase these from her late February when she launched her inaugural Home Collection and finally had the chance to swatch them now. 

Okay first impressions: I like the logo and packaging a lot, the bottles are round and are a good size. The maker included a few little extras, including a magnet that was made from polish (I loved that!), that may have been because my purchase was part of a first collection launch but it was a nice and unexpected bonus. Shipping turn-around time was less then a week, which I definitely appreciated. As for formula, there was some variance among the polishes and I will go into more detail below the descriptions below. Anchor & Heart Lacquer Cold Water & Sunshine

Three coats

Light aqua/turquoise crelly with silver flakes, duo-chrome shimmer, plus holo silver micro-glitter

This was the one that immediately drew me in, a light but not too dusky turquoise/aqua polish. I really love the silver flakes in the base. It had a thinner crelly formula so I applied three coats to reach opacity.

Anchor & Heart Lacquer Shattered Sea Glass

Two coats

Mid tone cornflower blue jelly with shifting flakes, iridescent glitter, scattered holo micro glitter

I am not buying as much glitter in colored base polishes lately but I liked the colors in this one. That particular shade of blue is so so pretty and the glitter is just right. This is a bit more opaque than the previous one, I have it shown in two coats.

Anchor & Heart Lacquer Sweet Love

Three coats

Off-white crelly gold and copper holo micro-glitter, and purple shimmer

Perfection. It is a really lovely soft off-white and the gold and copper shimmer is so tasty in the base. I wore this for a few days last month and it may be my new favorite palette cleanser polish. Three thin coats for coverage but considering it's a soft white crelly, that's not unexpected.

Anchor & Heart Lacquer Vacation Land

Two coats

Coral subtle linear holographic with purple flash and iridescent purple glitter

Bright and bold and it makes me look oh so tan. I was expecting it to be a bit more red/pink that the swatch photos from the shop suggested but I think this sort of neon-ish coral is likely harder to photograph 100% accurately and that may be why. Formula is good, I applied two coats for coverage and it has a subtle lower density holo flame.

Anchor & Heart Lacquer Sunken Treasure #18

Three coats

Violet purple jelly with ultra-chrome flakes and teal micro-glitter

Sunken Treasure polishes are mystery prototype polishes that the brand offers periodically. I snagged one in my order and this is what I received. I like to see those ultra-chrome flakes in colored bases and the red-toned violet is very nice indeed.
