Crème à la Mode Summer 2016 Box: Swatches and Review

Hello! Today I have a quartet of polishes that are part of the Summer Creme de la Mode (or C.A.L.M.) Box. The Creme de la Mode box is an all creme polish box, featuring polishes from Digital Nails, Indigo Bananas, Literary Lacquers, and Octopus Party Nail Lacquer. 

I so wanted to do some nail art with the set but I haven't had time to do that (summer reviews are in full swing!). You should check out Bedlam Beauty's review though, Nichole has a whole nail wheel full of ways to play with these polishes. 

The Crème à la Mode Summer 2016 Box will be available via pre-order sale, from Friday July 8th until Friday July 15th in Crème à la Mode's shop. The box retails for $26 plus shipping.

Digital Melonade
Two coats
Neon orange coral creme
Hot damn, will you just look at this color?! It's so eye-searing bright, which my camera can't really show off. And it makes me look just a bit more tan, always nice. Formula is wonderful, I applied two thin coats. 

Indigo Bananas Creme Bluelé 

Two coats

Bright cerulean blue creme

Mmmm, blue.....how I love thee. Not quite cobalt but more a cerulean blue and the perfect summer tropical blue for me. Thinner style formula which is what I have come to expect from Indigo Bananas but opaque enough to just need two coats.

Literary Lacquers Cyan-Tifically Proven

Three coats

Teal green creme

Saturated teal goodness, that's exactly what this is. And it compliments the other bold colors really well. This was nice and squishy in formula. I applied two coats and had just a bit patchiness but a thin third coat did the trick. 

Octopus Party Nail Lacquer You, Me, and Daiquiri 

Two coats

Off white with peach/pink tones

This made me think of linen clothes and lazy beach days. Because sometimes you need that neutral palette cleanser among the brights. Formula was very nice, I did two thicker coats for coverage, just because I wanted to see if I could get it opaque in two. If you apply thin coats, you may need a third.

Crème à la Mode Spring 2016 Box: Swatches and Review

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is having a good Easter Sunday and for those that do not observe Easter, happy Sunday! I have new-to-me collaborative box on my blog for you all today. This quarterly box is an all creme polish box, featuring polishes from Digital Nails, Indigo Bananas, Literary Lacquers, and Octopus Party Nail Lacquer. 

In the past I have purchased individual polishes from a couple of the brands in this box but this was my first experience with all four together. I love the bright pop of color from this spring seasonal box and how well they played off each other. As for the price, for all four polishes, this box is $26! WHAT? Yeah I know, crazy awesome. Shipping is additional of course but damn, you can't beat that. If you miss out on this sale though, you will have the chance to purchase each polish from each's respective brand's shop later on. 

The Crème à la Mode Spring 2016 Box is available via pre-order sale, which is open as of today, March 27th through April 3rd in Crème à la Mode's shop and will ship about two weeks following that. 

Digital Nails Water You Wading For

Saturated dusty periwinkle creme
Hello there you pretty blue. Bright and dusky at the same time somehow. I had a couple of pink spots on the side of my bottle of undissolved pigment. I did not see any when I applied my polish and maker Raphaelle is aware and this issue will be resolved before the box ships. As for application, two easy coats.

Pale warm leaning grey creme

I really like this color, it's a very pale gray which you can pull out to wear as a nice palate cleanser or as a base for all sorts of nail art possibility. Formula was thinner than the others, so I got full opacity with three coats.

Literary Lacquers Salmon Chanted Evening 

Two coats

Bright coral creme

A beautiful and bright salmon pink coral. Very fluid and opaque, so I just needed two thinly applied coats for coverage. I did run in a couple of issues though, I had a couple of small bits of pigment as well as a wonky and bent brush which made it a bit more problematic when I applied it. Maker Amy was made aware and it sounds like I got a bad bottle and this will not be an issue for polishes in the pre-order.

Octopus Party Nail Lacquer The Algae-atic Sea

Two coats

Muted neon mint-leaning green creme

This is one of those green shades that falls between mint and jade, however you want to label it though, it's fresh and quite lovely. Easy application with two coats.

Nail art yay! These polishes just beg to be worn together so I did a dotted gradient using the blue, green, and coral over the light gray as my base.

Hi everyone! I ended up taking a longer break than I initially planned. But I didn't want to have a longer lapse with my blog posts so I am back today with some awesome polishes from Digital Nails.

Digital Nails Give Peas a Chance

I love that the circles are on the smaller size than the super large ones out there. You could layer but I prefer to build coats so I can have that shiny jelly finish. Inspired by Gregor Mendel's contributions within the field of genetics, and more specifically his experiments with pea plants. 

Digital Nails Cousteau's My Bro

Two coats

Ultramarine blue jelly base with various blue holographic glitter

Part of the Scientist Pun series

So. gosh. darn. BLUE. Which of course, makes it perfect as a polish inspired by the aquatic explorer Jacques Cousteau. Really nice coverage and opaque in two coats.

Digital Nails Plancks a Lot

This is a very dense glitter bomb! And I am sure I missed a color in my description because yeah, a lot going on. It's on the thick side, so I would just say give yourself a few minutes before applying coats. I applied two coats and very light third to cover any patches and that's it. You will want to double up your topcoat coverage, as glitter bombs like this will absorb that topcoat. Inspired by Max Planck's and his work with quantum physics.

Rose pink linear holographic with pink micro-flakes

What a gorgeous shade of pink. I love just how rosy it is. It had a nice medium to high linear flame and applies very nicely with two coats. Inspired by Rosalind Franklin and her significant work on the discovery of DNA.

Digital Nails Red Dwarf

Magenta pink micro-glitter in a clear base

Part of the Space Glitter series

I love the Space Glitter polishes, they make me want to glitter all the things. This color is especially great. If you want to take things to the next level (and I know you do), you should wear this layered over Double Helix and watch your camera go crazy. I applied three coats which was a good amount of coverage. Again, since it's a glitter bomb polish, you will likely want to add that 2nd coat of topcoat.

Layered over Cuccio Colors Prince I've Been Gone

Part of the monthly Limited Edition series

Clear based flake topper of orange to gold/green flakes and violet to blue color shifting pigment. 

This polish is September's monthly polish and it's one of my favorites of the post. It looks AMAZING over black but I wanted to wear it over another color so I chose a dark teal green for my base which compliment the flakes well. Nice amount of coverage with one coat over the colored base.

Clear based topper of various black glitter, including bat shaped glitter, and holographic pigment

Part of the monthly Limited Edition series

This polish is October's monthly polish. You could wear it over so many different base colors, the options are endless. I decided to go for a vampire theme so I wore it over a deep red. The larger bat glitter are fun touch and Raphaelle includes a little bag of loose bat glitter if you want some extra battiness.

Digital Nails Follow the Water & Fermi's Paradox

Helllllo all! I have another post for you today, this time I have a couple of Digital Nails polishes to share. Without further ado, on to the polishes:

 Digital Nails Follow the Water
Two coats
Dusky sea blue with holo micro-glitter
Such a unique polish! I don't think I have seen these shade of blue in this finish from any other brand as of yet. Two easy coats for coverage and a double layer of topcoat for a smooth shiny finish.
Follow the Water is an exclusive to The Christmas in July Collaboration Box, which was a box that included 16 indie brands who created 28 little surprises for the box. I purchased my bottle from someone on Facebook so I don't have other polishes and products that were included in the box but it looks like there are a few left in stock in Ellagee's shop. It is priced at $80, which initially looks like a huge number but consider how just how many brands are participating and how much you receive and it's a steal! 

Digital Nails Fermi's Paradox

Two coats

Black jelly base with red to green color-shifting micro-glitter and flakes, and purple color-shifting pigment. 

August's Monthly LE Polish

UGHHHHH SO DAMN GORGEOUS. It should come with a disclaimer, "Caution: May Cause Distraction". Very easy application and more opaque that I was anticipating. I thought I would need three coats but I had full coverage in two. As with the previous polish, a double layer of topcoat with smooth out those micro-glitter. Fermi's Paradox is available right now! If you haven't already, you should get this polish. Because once it's gone, it's gone. And polish regret is the worst.

Digital Nails The Definitely Not Cute Collection: Swatches and Review

HELLO! I have a fan-freaking-tastic collection to share with you all today from Digital Nails. The Definitely Not Cute Collection is a seven polish set, all inspired by the animated short series Bee and Puppycat. You may be wondering, What is Bee and Puppycat? It's about a girl, Bee, who is unemployed and runs into a puppy? cat? creature (appropriately named Puppycat) and their adventures. This is a short series, so far there are five episodes, each about 10 minutes or so. And you can watch them all yourself here, which I highly recommend you do, it's funny and weird and very addicting. 

So my thoughts about this collection. I loved each and every polish. I know! I say that a lot here. But  I feel like Raphaelle took the inspiration from the series and ran with it. The colors and names and overall passion that went into this collection makes me so happy. Since the polish themselves vary in finish and formula, I will make notations of those underneath each ones's descriptions. And if have never seen or want to watch Bee and Puppycat (BUT YOU SHOULD) I think you will find a polish or two or three that would tempt you anyway.

Digital Nails Dreamy Bee

Two coats
Light orchid crelly with various sizes of pale aqua and sky blue glitter. And it comes with a Bee ring!
I ended up swatching this one twice. The first time I applied three coats and I felt like the glitters ended up looking somewhat muddled. The second time I applied two coats, this time adding more to my brush before applying and I had full opacity and I felt that glitters look perfect that way. This will dry down bumpy as the crelly formula is thin, so make sure to double up on your topcoat.

Digital Nails An Eggplant for a Pillow

Two coats

Dark eggplant purple creme

You know you want an Eggplant pillow, I know I do! And you will definitely want this Eggplant polish. It's a deep and dark purple that is so flipping perfect formula wise. It's opaque enough for stamping if you so choose.

Digital Nails Secret Space Outlaw

Two coats

Black jelly base with charcoal holographic glitter

Oh the mysterious Puppycat. Who is he really? Only time will will reveal more about his Space Outlaw alter ego. In the meantime we can enjoy this sparkly and equally enigmatic polish. And like every single holo micro-glitter polish ever, it's hard to capture quite how amazing those holo sparks look in photos. You need no more than two coats for full coverage. As with Dreamy Bee, you will want to apply two coats of topcoat for a smooth finish.

Digital Nails Use the Sword AS A SWORD! 

Two coats

Neon pink magenta crelly. 

A blindingly neon pink to be sure, my favorite kind. It's crelly formula gives it a high shine factor and depending on how opaque you want it, you can get away with two or three coats. I applied two coats and did not have a hint of visible nail line. And it references one of my favorite lines from the series, all around winner for me!

Digital Nails Crotch Ice

Layered over An Eggplant for a Pillow

Clear base with gold to green to aqua color shifting flakes and color shifting pigment.

You hope you never need Crotch Ice but it's always good to have! Absolutely stunning in person. It's made to be worn over a dark base so applying it over An Eggplant for a Pillow was a no-brainer. And that's one coat! Yeah.

Layered over Use the Sword AS A SWORD!

While I loved Crotch Ice over Eggplant, I think my favorite combination was it over Use the Sword, the green against the neon pink was so striking. I am going to wear this combination again and this time I will matte it.

Digital Nails Fish Don't Cry

 Two coats
Mint green crelly with gold to green to aqua color shifting flakes
Inspired by baby Wallace and his tears. We get the same wonderful color shifting flakes that are in Crotch Ice but this time in a colored base. And what a color! It's mint yes, but a brightened, just shy of being neon, mint.

Digital Nails Glitter in My Pockets

Four coats

Clear base with a rainbow assortment of pastel glitter and gold iridescent squares

Glitter! Everywhere! I know that there have been times where I have had glitter on me (and not just my nails). Hey, it happens. Casualty of being a nail polish lover. Glitter in My Pockets is pastel goodness. You can build to opacity or layer it. I did both, the first time building up with four thin coats and a generous layer of topcoat. A little thick when you build opacity but nothing unmanageable.

Layered over An Eggplant for a Pillow

And if you want to layer, there are so many options. I liked it especially over An Eggplant, the purple made the pastel colors pop and you can see the glints of the gold iridescence. This is one coat layered.

Monthly LE

Mid-toned purple crelly with holo pigment and blue shimmer

Digital Nails will be now be releasing monthly limited edition polishes to showcase special ingredients and discontinued pigments, glitters, etc. Queen of the Derp is the first month's offering and while it doesn't technically belong to the Definitely Not Cute collection, it does compliment the other seven quite well. No sun shots unfortunately but it does have a nice medium density holo flame, Digital Nails has a pic of it under the sun on her Instagram.
