KBShimmer Fall 2016 Partial Collection - Poppy Kisses and The Best Mum Ever: Swatches and Review

Provided for Review
Hi everyone! My blog posts for the next week may be sporadic (vacation time!) but until then, I still have a couple of posts to share. For today I have two polishes from KBShimmer's Fall 2016 Collection. I received a bag of samples from Cocktails & Colors event in Las Vegas, including these two from KBShimmer, and am slowly but surely getting to swatch those polishes. To see the entire Fall 2016 Collection, check out Lavish Layering's review and to purchase these or any others from KBShimmer, head on over to their website

KBShimmer Poppy Kisses
Two coats
Orange toned red linear holographic
I LOVE this polish. I have more than a few red holos but am a red polish hoarder so is there really a thing as having too many? This is a lovely one to own though, it's got a orange tone to the color, giving it a fiery poppy red look. It applies really well, two coats for coverage and no clean up needed by me, with topcoat to finish. The holo density is a medium one, which is standard in my experience of KBShimmer holo polishes.

KBShimmer The Best Mum Ever
Two coats
Violet creme with pink/red micro-fleck shimmer
Such a pretty purple color and the shimmer is a nice compliment. It doesn't dry down to a texture but an additional layer of topcoat may be something you want to give a glass shine finish. It applies easily, though a little thicker in formula compared to the previous polish.

Pink Gellac Uncovered 2 Collection: Swatches and Review

Provided for Review
Hi guys! I have some new gel polishes from Pink Gellac to share today. These are all part of the recently released Uncovered2 Collection, a more work friendly set with neutral toned colors. If you want to more about how to apply Pink Gellac, refer to my review of the Starter Kit I received a few months back.

I am so impressed by the formula and application experience with Pink Gellac. For a beginner gel polish user like me, they apply easily and I love the understated but beautiful colors in the set. If you like what you see and want to order the Uncovered2 Collection or even get the Starter Kit, head on over to the Pink Gellac website (which offers free shipping for orders over $65) or through their US distributor, Chickettes

Pink Gellac Bronzed Nude
Two coats
Chocolate brown creme
A milky brown creme shade which I know would be a perfect nude on several people. It's not a color I would wear often but I love how shiny it is, all cause of that gel finish.

Pink Gellac Heavenly Mauve
Two coats
Dark mauve with pink shimmer
This may be my favorite of the collection. It's a sophisticated purple toned mauve color and the shimmer adds some depth.

Pink Gellac Ivory Blush
Three coats
Pink tinted ivory creme
This was a bit more sheer than the other polishes so you will likely need to apply three coats if you want full opacity. If you don't mind visible nail lines, you could get away with two coats. It is especially important to apply thin coats, if you apply too thick coats, then you run the risk of this not curing right but peeling off sooner instead. The color is light and delicate and with just a hint of pink to give it some warmth.

Pink Gellac Spicy Sienna
Two coats
Caramel brown creme with orange/red color shimmer
I do like this one a lot, especially with that fiery colored shimmer. It is something I can see myself wearing in the fall season. Make sure to cap you tips with this one, I could see a bit of my nail at the very tip and it's because I neglected to do that.

Pink Gellac Golden Glam
Layered over Pink Gellac Ivory Blush
Clear base with rose gold and gold micro-glitter
Not quit a full coverage glitter polish though it can be built up if you want to wear it solo (Very Emily has it shown that way). I liked how it looked over Ivory Blush, just a bit of sparkle over the light base.

Cupcake Polish Luau Collection: Swatches and Review

Provided for Review
Hey all! I have one more post for today, this time a review of some new holo polishes from Cupcake Polish. This Luau Collection is a six polish set, inspired by the Hawaiian islands and luaus.

Formula notes:
I am going to post my notes here at the top, since the polishes were the same formula wise. Oh my goodness, first of all, the colors are gorgeous. Bright and beautiful and exactly what I would envision for a tropical inspired set. These are a shimmer holos, so not just a straight linear holographic polish but medium density holos with a whole lot of shimmer packed in. The shimmer itself gives the polishes a jewel tone, mirrored finish.

The consistency for the polishes are similar to a jelly polish, so you may need to wipe off some excess polish from your brush and I do recommend waiting a few minutes between coats to prevent any dragging. Otherwise, they apply well and were each opaque enough with two coats, always a plus for me. I apply topcoat as a habit but I do emphasize that here because I think the shimmer stands out more when you have a shiny layer of topcoat.

The only critique I had is specifically of Hula Do You Love? After I swatched that, I noticed that it left a slight pink tint on my nails. That was gone after a couple of days. I don't use any base coat when I swatch polishes, so I would highly recommend applying a ridge builder base coat (possibly even two coats) and that will help.

The Luau Collection will be available starting Sunday August 28th at 12 pm CST in Cupcake Polish's shop. Each polish retails for $13.

Paint All the Nails Presents: Color Block

Provided for Review
Hi everyone! Instead of a review, I have some nail art today with this month's Paint All the Nails link up. I missed June and July's link ups with life getting in the way but I didn't want to go any longer without having the chance to contribute to this group challenge. For this month the theme was Color Block.

Color blocking is a relatively easy form of doing nail art and one I really love. If you like abstract designs (and you know I do), then a color block prompt is a great way to spark creativity. Although school has begun and pumpkin spice products are creeping back on the market, it is still summer time for me. So with that in my head, I decided to go with a neon skittle look with black blocks.

I used all the polishes from Cirque Colors Vice 2016 Collection (which I reviewed here), plus Memento Mori to create the blocks and here is my end result. Simple but striking. The black adds a dark contrast to the over-all bright color scheme.

I applied a layer of matte topcoat and oh yes, I loooove how this looks matte. I am wearing these still today and I have been unconsciously petting my nails because it's so smooth.

I hope you like the look I came up with and make sure to click on the links below to see what my fellow bloggers have created!
