Crowsmas Collection 2016: Swatches and Review

Hi everyone! I have some new Crows Toes to share today. These four are part of her Crowsmas 2016 Collection and are available right now in the Crows Toes shopuntil Sunday December 25th at 8 pm EST. The shop will close then to catch up orders and then re-open sometime again before the end of the month. Sideswiped and Instant Xmas will become core colors but ...I Need A Tinselectomy and Holiday Nuts are only available this holiday season and will be retired until next year, so if those two catch you eye, get them now while you can! 

Crows Toes ...I Need a Tinselectomy.

Two coats
Cyan blue base multi-chrome shimmer with flashes of bright green to coral pink
So brightly blue and the color shifting flashes of green and pink make this an altogether amazing polish. Formula is good, it's opaque in two coats, with a bit of visible nail but not in a bothersome way. 

Crows Toes Holiday Nuts 

Layered over Rescue Beauty Recycle 

Clear based glitter topper with brown, gold, and green various glitter

Festive, gold dominant glitter, which is really perfect for the holiday season. You could build up to opacity but you would need at least three to four coats to do that, I preferred to layer it instead. You can pair this with any number of different colored bases but I loved it over a dark green, which gave it an even more holiday tone. 

Crows Toes Sideswiped

Two coats

Dusky lavender base multi-chrome shimmer with flashes of blue, magenta, and gold

Similar in formula to I Need a Tinselectomy but slightly more opaque. I would go as far to call this a frost because it does have some visible brush strokes BUT this is not the dreaded 80's/90's frosty polish that you would dismiss. The flashes of the other colors and the overall fresh but at the same time duskier lavender color is so very pretty!

 Clear based glitter topper with red and green and other multi-colored iridescent glitter 

This one though, it is the star of the set, at least for me. A iridescent glitter topper is so versatile and has such a striking visual impact, particularly if you layer it over a darker base color, though it would look just as wonderful over a lighter base. I LOVE how it looks over the berry creme I chose, with the green and red iridescence it is, ugh, seriously swoon worthy.

The Holo Hookup January 2017 Box: Swatches and Review

Hey all! I have the Holo Hookup Box for January for today. Along with polishes from Cupcake Polish, Different Dimension, and Glisten & Glow, the guest maker for this month is Colores de Carol. The theme is 'New Year, New You' with the inspiration pic is below. 

The January 2017 Holo Hookup Box will be available during a week long pre-order window from December 21st at 9 pm EST until December 28th at 9 pm EST only in the Holo Hookup shop. 

The box is $40 plus shipping which will be available domestically and internationally.

Light green linear holographic with pink shimmer

The color is a fresh and lovely. The formula is what I expect from Cupcake, so a thicker style, this time a creme based holo, and opaque in two coats.

Different Dimension Simplify

Two coats

Light lavender linear holographic with blue shimmer

I love the mirrored quality this has, with the metallic tone of the polish. Application is very easy, with barely two coats needed for coverage. This has a higher density holo.

Glisten & Glow Love

Light pink linear holographic with light rose and pink micro-flakes

Are you seeing a theme with the colors? Another lighter toned shade to the set, this time a metallic pink one and the super high density holo flame is wonderful. Slightly thinner consistency in the formula but still opaque in two coats.

Colores de Carol The Extra Mile

Medium blue linear holographic with gold and blue shimmer plus gold flakes

And here is a nicely done blue polish to round out the collection. The flakes and shimmer give it a bit of depth and application wise, I had no issues.

Best of Paint All the Nails

I have a different sort of post today. It's also a very bittersweet post. The ladies from my Paint All the Nails group are joining up again for our monthly link-up. This will be out last link up though as more than a few of the bloggers are saying goodbye or have already done so this past year. To commemorate this last link-up, we decided to do a Best of Paint All the Nails. All of us have recreated a previously done design from the PATN link-up archives, which will also show some love for one of our other fellow group members.

I went through all the photos and had such a hard time deciding which look I wanted to re-create. This is such a talented group of nail bloggers and in the end, after a lot of deliberation, I ended up doing two different designs.

This first one is a re-creation of Very Emily's dry brush link up manicure. I love the colors she chose and how the abstract dry brush application looks. I started out with Pretty Serious Absence and then used Cirque Colors McKittrick, Essie In the Lobby, and Pahlish Be True. I did not have a square nail stud but I did have this gold triangle instead. 

The other look I wanted to recreated is from Love Vanish's Dotticures link-up post. So simple but striking in the color choice. Add on the matte and it looks not just like nail art but pop art, worthy of being on the wall. 

I started out with Cirque Colors Hustle for my base, applied the black dots first, then the white and once it was all dry, topcoat and then matte topcoat.

Pahlish Atmospheres Collection :Swatches and Review

Hey all! Today's post features Pahlish's newest collection. This four polish set is the upcoming Atmospheres Collection, which will be available starting Sunday December 18th at 7 pm CST in Pahlish's shop. 

Pahlish Apollo

Two coats

Smoky violet jelly with red shimmer and scattered holographic

I do like the smokiness that tints the purple coloring and the red is nice compliment. Nice amount of coverage in two coats, with a scattered holo effect.

Pahlish Drift

Two coats

 Taupe jelly with violet-blue shimmer and scattered holographic

Good gosh y'all, this is stunning. That shimmer is so intensely blue in the brownish taupe base. Very opaque in two coats.

Pahlish Silver Morning

Two coats

Dove grey jelly with red shimmer and scattered holographic

A light and lovely softened gray. That red shimmer shows up again here and adds a little warmth to the cool toned base. It is a creme based scattered holo with just a little visible nail line at two coats but not enough of a bother to need a third coat.

Pahlish Weightless

Two coats

Silvery mint green jelly with pink shimmer and scattered holographic

Fresh and crisp with just a hint of pink in the silvered green base. Application was like the others, meaning no issues and easy to put on with two coats needed for coverage.
