Silly Bee's Chickadees Gift of Melly 2014: Ida's Electric Snow (plus Giveaway!)

Provided for Review
Sponsored Giveaway

Hello again! To make today even more festive, I have a new collaboration holiday polish from Silly Bee's Chickadees to share with you guys. Earlier this year Melly asked if I would like to take part in her Silly Bee's Chickadees Gift of Melly and I am excited to show off what we came up with. The Gift of Melly is a collection of collaboration polishes inspired by favorite holiday movies and $2 from each polish will go the charity chosen by each of the participating bloggers.

I chose Hospice Austin as the charity to support. While there are a number of wonderful national charities and awareness organizations, I feel that giving support to a local charity or service makes a huge impact in your own home base. Hospice Austin is a a non-profit organization that provides a enormous service to families and patients in their time of need and for each bottle of Ida's Electric Snow purchased, $2 will go to them.

I chose The Nightmare Before Christmas as my holiday movie. It's definitely something I watch every December (as well as October) and I especially love the scene where Jack Skellington discovers Christmas Town. I have been know to sing What's This? way too much, so I chose that particular scene as my inspiration.
Ida's Electric Snow is a clear based topper polish with matte white glitter, various colored metallic glitter and a touch of blue iridescent shimmer/glitter.
I can not tell you just how much I love this polish! You can totally see the inspiration behind this, the white snow, the holiday lights, the sparkle in the air, so so fun!

Layered over American Apparel Hassid
Here is another layered look, this time over a dark base to show off those iridescent glitter.
For each photo, I applied just one coat over the base color.

What do you think? I hope you like it as much as I do.

Here is a look a the other 6 polishes in this year's Gift of Melly:

Left to right:
Jacki's Who-ville Christmas (Adventures In Acetone for Polished Girlz)
Emily's Dreaming of a White Christmas (The Lacquerologist for Second Chance For Animals- Canton, OH)
Ida's Electric Snow (Ida Nails It for Hospice Austin)
Steph's Silver White Winters (Imperfectly Painted for The Pet Alliance Of Greater Orlando)
Mishka's Rare Exports (Accio Lacquer for Cancer Research Institute)
Sydney's Hot Chocolate (Polish Monster for Bikes or Bust)
Diana's Merry Little Christmas (Polish Monster for Alzheimer's Association)

You can purchase Ida's Electric Snow (as well as any of the other 6 polishes) for $10 in Silly Bee's Chickadees shop. As I mentioned before, $2 from each polish will go to the respective blogger's charity. This collection is limited in number so don't delay!

Crows Toes Llarowe Exclusives: Jingle Balls and Merry Kiss-Me-A@#!: Swatches and Review

Provided for Review
Good morning! Let's start off December with a some holiday Crows Toes polishes. If you recall, I did a post of the upcoming Winter Trio last week, the two polishes I have today are re-promotes and as well as Llarowe exclusives. No reformulation of the formula so if you had a chance to purchase these in the past, you will not need these again. However, if you missed these before, you will want to grab them with they release, I believe they are seasonal re-promotes so they will be available for only a limited window until next year.

Crows Toes Jingle Balls
Layered over Cult Nails Time Traveler
Clear base with green, gold, blue and red glitter.
It's like a Christmas Tree exploded on my nails. I love it!

(Direct Sunlight)
Layered over American Apparel Office

Crows Toes Merry Kiss-Me-A@#!
Two coats
Black based jelly base with heavy gold flake shimmer and scattered red glitter
That lovely shimmer gives the black base such a warm golden appearance and the random red sparks are a nice touch.

Introducing Monster Polish!: Swatches and Review

Provided for Review
Hey guys! I am coming out of the void that is Thanksgiving weekend, slowly but surely. Today I have two new polishes from a new indie brand, Monster Polish. Monster Polish is the brainchild of Diana, who has been creating her polishes for a while now, mainly as gifts to friends. She will now be producing her pretty polishes and decals/vinyls for public purchase and I for one, am excited to see what she will have in store as she progresses.

For the initial launch of Monster Polish, Diana collaborated with Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer to create a 5 polish set inspired by the Doctors of Doctor Who. The two polishes I am sharing are by Monster Polish and the other three are from Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer, you can view those on her Facebook page. You can purchase the set (as a pre-order) today in both Monster Polish's shop as well as via Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer's shop at 3:30 pm EST. If you go with the 5 polish collection, you will also receive 4 sets of 5 Monster Polish nail vinyls (Bananas, Bow Ties, 3D Glasses and Dinosaurs), or you can purchase polishes individually in each respective maker's shop.

Before I get the polish review, I just wanted to show off the all that was in my box. That little green monster is a magnet (that immediately went on my helmer next another brand's magnet) and the little monsters on that white hair tie, seriously cute!

I LOVE the logo and branding that Diana has come up with. It's playful and fun and catches your attention right away. I didn't get a chance to wear the decals, so here is a close-up of what they look like:

Monster Polish I Was Hoping For Minimalism But I Think I Came Out With Magician
Two coats
Deep blue jelly base with red and blue shimmer.
Inspired by the 12th Doctor and his signature outfit.
Very much a Doctor Who blue and the shimmer is gorgeous. A little on the thick side formula wise but otherwise easy application.

Monster Polish What's Wrong With this Jumper?
Two coats
Charcoal satin finish with purple shimmer and added holographic pigment.
Inspired by 9th Doctor and his signature leather look.
This is one of those polishes that is so much better in person, my photos do not do it justice. That shimmer man, it is killer! No issue with application either. It will dry to a satin finish but a layer of topcoat will fix that if you prefer to have it shine.

(Direct Sunlight)

These will be available today at 3:30 pm EST in Monster Polish's shop, individually or as a set
(along with three Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquers).

Crows Toes 2014 Winter Trio: Swatches and Review

Provided for Review
Hello again! Double post for today, this time I have Crows Toes Winter 2014 Trio. I am very happy to see these glitter bomb polishes from her, as I think Crows Toes puts out some of the best indie glitter polishes. The formula for these is oh so smooth, they apply very easily and I used just one heavy coat for full coverage over a base color. You will likely need to apply at least two coats of topcoat (or my method, which is a coat of Gelous and then heavy coat of topcoat) to get a glass smooth finish.

These will be released very soon in all of Crows Toes distributors shops, I know that they will be available through Llarowe shortly, so follow that shop's Facebook page to see specific dates and times. There are two seasonal re-promotes this year, Jingle Balls and Merry Kiss-Me-A@#, that are Llarowe exclusives, I will have a post of those two in a few days.

Crows Toes Walk the Peacock
Layered over American Apparel Night Sky
Clear base with aqua, teal, green, magenta, and blue glitter.
Well we do parade around like peacocks in our holiday finery, so it's about time we have a polish that we can wear when we do that! Great contrast of colors and most definitely a polish that shows off it's peacock feathers inspiration.

Crows Toes Her Goose Got Iced
Layered over American Apparel Night Sky
Clear base with silver, gunmetal, and ice blue metallic glitter.
One of my very favorite Crows Toes polishes is Her Goose Got Cooked so I was very happy to see that a cool toned version had been created. Oh so cool *wink*

Crows Toes Mad Money
Layered over American Apparel Hassid
Clear base with holo silver glitter.
Such a simple description for such a bold polish. If you like Maxxed Out, then you will love this, it's the silver counterpart to that one. Perfect for all your holiday parties!
